Is there anything more romantic than a French chateau, gracefully grown old and becomingly crumbling in corners, illuminated by lantern light? It was just such a noble, elegant and gently dishevelled tableau that formed the narrative and inspiration behind our Wisley Glass Lantern in galvanised iron. Happily, you don’t need to be the master or mistress of a chateau to derive joy from this light and elegant lamp, whose details – its delicate arms, its small balls in each corner and its slim chain – have been created with refinement in mind, and with a doffing of the cap to French antiques, the kind long ago forgotten and languishing in shut-up stately rooms. A pair of these lanterns at the end of an entrance hall makes for a seductively dreamy scene, the galvanised iron finish oozing rustic charm. The lanterns use an E14 bulb.
