To have a fabric napkin in hand at mealtimes is a source of such comfort, elevating the most ordinary of daily rituals with effortless ease. A notion that becomes all the more heightened when the napkins in question are devised as a meaningful feature as opposed to a mere aside. Try then these, stitched from pure, natural linen sourced from Lithuania – a climate perfectly suited to cultivating premium-grade yields of flax fibres used for producing linen yarn. A close look presents the telltale signs of natural linen – the raised threads and occasional knots known as slubs – that are there to be celebrated rather than disguised. Rather than embodying linen’s sometimes coarse texture, these cloth napkins have a washed finish that tumbles them into supreme softness and happily means you may wash them time and time again at no more than 40 degrees. They age very gracefully indeed.
